As part of a private construction project in which a real estate complex of high-rise residential buildings, an office building and a hotel are being developed, the exterior fittings are carried out using the zero emission range by Wacker Neuson. Emission-free and reduced noise – without compromise
From internal vibrators for consolidating concrete to the fully electric 1.7 metric ton shovel, almost all of Wacker Neuson’s zero-emission range was used at the Vienna jobsite. “With our electrical machines we can cover many application scenarios,” says Alexander Greschner, Sales Manager of the Wacker Neuson Group. “The application in Vienna shows that our zero-emission solutions are ideal not only for special applications, but also for quite everyday tasks on construction sites in the city center. With our extensive portfolio, we are the industry pioneer here.
With up to 90% less CO2 emissions – battery production and energy recovery are included here – electric machines not only make work on the job site more pleasant, but also help achieve goals climatic. In Vienna, Swietelsky was impressed by the extremely quiet electric excavators, dumpers and wheel loaders, as well as their easy handling in practice: all machines can be charged overnight and the battery charge is sufficient for an average working day. “Electrical products from Wacker Neuson offer many advantages,” explains Mario Lang, site manager at Swietelsky AG. “Thanks to them, we can reduce operating costs and better protect operators. In particular, the ease of use and the trouble-free interaction of machines and equipment convinced us. We would have no problem using electrical machines from Wacker Neuson on other sites.
Emission-free, from compaction to material transport
In this construction project, outdoor facilities, children’s playgrounds, benches, sidewalks and loading areas are created, among others. For this, cables were laid, green spaces were created, paths prepared and concrete foundations laid. The EZ17e battery-powered mini excavator found application in subsequent excavation work. High-quality lithium-ion technology has already been used by Wacker Neuson for several years, because with it the machine meets the high demands on service life, durability, safety and robustness. The generous battery capacity ensures that the hydraulic functions, with the same performance as on a conventional model, are available throughout the working day. Thanks to the 7-inch color display, the operator is informed at all times about the status of the machine, for example the current charge level and the resulting remaining usage time. The battery can be charged from a household outlet (110-230 volts) or by fast charging with high voltage current (up to 415 volts) in just four hours. The excavated material is transported using the DW15e electric dumper. Compared to the conventional model, the sound levels have been reduced here by more than 20 decibels at 60 db (A) *, which is equivalent to the normal volume in a room.
During soil compaction, the AS60e battery rammer as well as two battery vibratory plates were put into operation. In addition, the internal high frequency IEe vibrator has reliably consolidated the concrete of the foundation of the playground. Meanwhile, the battery is used in the inverter backpack (ACBe). This allows the operator to carry the power source on his back when working, eliminating the need for long power cables. This means more safety, new freedom of movement and a high level of user comfort. All of Wacker Neuson’s zero-emission compaction machines, i.e. battery-powered rammers, battery-powered vibratory plates and internal vibrators, work with the same modular lithium-ion battery. It can be swapped out for a second battery in no time or swapped between machines – an added bonus in terms of flexibility in day-to-day construction work. In Systainer brand system boxes, specially UN certified for Wacker Neuson, the battery and the battery charger are protected against dirt and damage. Thanks to this, the battery can be transported and stored safely in accordance with ADR / RID guidelines.
