Meadow Lane children’s day care center in St Ives wins third prize
A nursery in St Ives has been awarded the Nursery World Award for a third time.
Meadow Lane Children’s Nursery in St Ives received the Health and Wellness Award and the Green Awards on Saturday 24 September.
The awards were held at The Brewery in London and Jenny Oldham, deputy director / senior education coordinator for Meadow Lane Children’s Nursery, said the team were thrilled.
Jenny said: “We are so proud and delighted to have won two more awards after winning the Enabling Environments Award in February 2020.
“We care so much about our environment, it’s a wonderful space for our children and staff to explore, experiment and be creative.

“We believe that these hands-on experiences in our farm, vegetable garden, workshop, etc., allow children to become confident and happy learners, who will be inspired and encouraged to love and respect nature for years to come.
“We also encourage children’s independence, risk taking and resilience through learning, thus contributing to the overall well-being of children.
“It has been a difficult year with the pandemic for everyone, children, staff and families included.
“As a management team we tried to create a support system for everyone involved in our environment and we were blown away by how the staff managed to manage their own well-being during this time, by supporting the well-being of children as well as supporting families as part of it as well.
Jenny said the team couldn’t have done without Sophia Covill who runs the nursery.
“Her dedication and enthusiasm for the setting is contagious, she truly is a very inspiring daycare manager and owner.
“I have never been part of a business where the owner and manager have and share so much passion for the approach and the natural way children learn.
“Sophia never has a negative mind and sees the positive in everything, always developing and making it easier for the staff, families and children in the setting.
“She is a very motivating woman and what is offered to the children within the framework is beyond amazing. It has been passed on 100% to the staff at the framework.”
