Bitcoin, Ford EV, Small Farm among organic gardening competition prizes
JACKSONVILLE, Florida, September 27, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Organic Gardeners Everywhere United States will have the opportunity to compete for prizes including a Bitcoin, a new electric vehicle and a small farm as the very first Johnny Appleseed Organic Invitational kicks off on Sun Sep 26. The launch date coincides with the anniversary of Jean Chapman, the true American pioneer who inspired the legend of Johnny Appleseed.
Presented in partnership with Mother Earth News, the competition aims to showcase the skills of the country’s top organic producers and provide them with a platform to share their knowledge. Video entries will be accepted via November 30, 2021, with the finalists selected in December and the competition itself due to take place during the 2022 growing season.
“Everyone agrees that organic food is healthier and tastes better, but there is a pervasive myth that truly sustainable growing practices cannot produce a yield bountiful enough to feed American families,” said Jeff Meyer, founder of Johnny Appleseed Organic. “The Johnny Appleseed Organic Invitational will prove that we can provide for everyone while producing food in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner. “
Growers selected for the competition will be some of the most talented and experienced gardeners in the country, and will compete from home, as their local growing season allows. Participation in the contest is free and no purchase is necessary.
